Sunshine in Hawaii! The cruise was fantastic, but we both liked the ports better than the "cruising." Maui was our favourite port. Instead of the "planned shore excursions" which cost about half as much as the cruise, we did our own little excursion. It costs $1 for a bus that goes anywhere on the island. Yes, it's a sweet deal. So in Maui we went to Kihei, found a beach, and lay in the sun all day. mmm... sunshine.
Oh, then yesterday I think I (Grant) found my true calling in life: kite surfing! Ok, so I didn't actually TRY it, but I saw lots of people doing it and it looks like so much fun. (There's a good picture of a dude kite-surfing attached.) Although they say it's really hard to learn, I figure I've got a year, and no job, so what else can I do with my time! lol. No but seriously this could be so much fun. Liz may or may not be too scared to try it. As long as I don't go out as far as the sharks I should be fine.
The food was fine on the cruise, we had a very nice italian dinner one night (Thanks to Miguel!) and last night we had a nice long dinner chatting with a Brit and two Americans. (Who by the way keep a gun beside their bed in Kentucky and if you ever come into this dude's house in the night you'll get shot. ....er.... yeaahh... in Canada, we don't do that... sorry. Although it was an interesting 20 minute conversation.... right.)
The cruise is now over... feeling fine, but the ground still wobbles a little. Funny story about how Grant walked into a display in a bookstore... "It's not my fault, the store was moving!" Ahh.. ok, so we're off the boat, and sitting in a quaint little cafe in Waikiki. (Ok, it's a Starbucks.) We've been working on the tans, Liz moreso than me. Cheers, Grant
Ok, time for this girl to get a word in edgewise around here. HI GUYS!!! We miss you guys so much - you would likely be surprised how often something comes up or we see something hilarious and turn to eachother to say "oh man nicole would have loved that!" or "aww that makes me miss mom and dad" ha ha ha it's true. we love you guys, keep the emails coming, we'll have a lot more time to respond when we finally get things sorted and set up in Oz this week. Jenn Mezei (from WLU) is already down there and emailed us to say getting connected to the net is complicated, so it could be a few days before you hear from us again.
Our flight leaves tomorrow morning at 8am, so we should be at the school in Wollongong around 10pm Tuesday night. yes, that's a LONG travel time, but we lose that magical day somewhere in the middle, and there is an 11 hours straight on a plane to Melbourne. Anyways not to worry, we'll be sleeping as much as possible and making up for the lost time last night before the sea-sickness pills set to work. oh man if you could have seen us - not pretty.
Ok that's it I think. We're going to walk around a bit then head back to the hostel to check in and get sorted for the afternoon. and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GRANNY!!! This time we're not late - mom pass that along ok? alright we're outta here. love you guys SOOOOOO way too much
