Yaaay, jet lag! I've been up since 2 and been wide awake. Yesterday afternoon we laid down for a short nap... that ended up lasting 10 hours. Liz is still at it and I'm jealous. So, here I am up and very alert sitting in our new little apartment where we'll be for the next few months. We're in a small apartment that's in need of some necessities (like storage!) but we'll get ourselves settled in the next few days.
Yesterday we already visited our old bank (accounts still alive!) but have to wait a week to get new debit cards. It's the little things that I think I'm going to enjoy about this stay in the Gong. For example, I'd forgotten that to an Aussie, Interac is called "eftpos". ("Electronic Funds Transfer - Point Of Sale".) But it's pronounced like a word. Haven't heard that one in a while.
We've already noticed things that have changed since we left at the end of 2007. A new lookout off the highway leading down the escarpment, stores that have changed, differences in the Crown St. outdoor pedestrian mall. Liz had to remind me to stop saying "Hey! That's new!" so loudly since things could have changed 3 years ago.
So far we haven't seen any creepy-crawlies and I know Liz will be happy to keep it that way!
... now only 6 hours till the shops open!
