Notes from a lonely husband

Well Liz is away this week at camp, and that leaves me here to write the blogs. Being lazy, I haven't offered up any photos this time. But I thought I'd share with everyone an update of our final few weeks before we head home.

First of all, I have less than 3 weeks of work left. That's clearly exciting. Things are starting to wind down slowly, but also exciting is that we move into a new office at the end of next week. So my final 4 days at work will be in the new building, which is a 15 walk from home! Now, why, you ask couldn't they have built this at the start of the year so I didn't have to buy a train pass? Well, it's beyond me. I guess they just didn't have me in mind when they made their timeline. :)

Incidentally, Liz has the same amount of time left on her last prac. And once she's home from her week with the kiddies at camp, there will be less than 2 weeks left!

This weekend we have slated a massive full house (not Full House with Uncle Jesse...) clean-up and BIG Pack day. We're going to pack up our suitcases and box up what doesn't fit and see how much stuff we'll need to ship home. Many fingers are crossed that it won't be much. The same weekend we're cleaning up our place for the final inspection, which happens later. We have to do this now because we only have 2 weekends left in Wollongong! Yipes! Time has gone by so fast. And with next weekend all about packing and cleaning, we only really have one weekend to go to the beach.

Fast forwarding to Nov 15, we leave Wollongong (not for good just yet) for a one week relaxing vacation in the Whitsundays in Queensland. It's up North on the Great Barrier Reef. It's our last chance to enjoy Eastern Australia before we set out for a Big Odyssey. After our Whitsundays week, we have mere hours in Wollongong to pull our stuff together and get onto our motorhome. Then we depart (November 23) on a long, long drive to Perth! It's a long haul, but we're making the trek with 4 friends so we can all share the experience.

After Perth we high-tail it across the Indian Ocean on a Swiss Air flight that (after 4 stops and 28 hours) lands us in beautiful Paris (please pronounce this "Paree". If you need to, re-read the sentence... it sounds better this way.) Ok, did you re-read it? Ok, good. Now from there we can wander around Europe for a few weeks before arriving home in Toronto just in time for Christmas!

We'll be home before you know it. We miss everyone like crazy and we're excited to see everyone when we get back. We're even a little excited about the Canadian winter coming. But we're a tad teary to be leaving behind our 2007 home in Wollongong. We've enjoyed living here so very much it's hard to say goodbye. (But don't worry moms, we will.)

I guess that's all. Hope to see everyone soon.

Grant
