Jervis Bay Adventures

So - this weekend was a biggie! As it was William's last weekend in the Gong, we thought we would finish BIG with a whale cruise down the coast in Jervis Bay. Then at the last minute we decided to also drive to Canberra (the capital) for the day Sunday.
On the way to Jervis Bay on Saturday morning, we stopped at the Kiama (K-eye-ama) Blowhole. At first we thought we were going to be let down, but it let out a few good shots in the half hour we spent there!

Then it was onto our whale cruise with Liz and her sister (Kate), Joe and his friend (Aaron). We weren't sure what to expect - this was the same company we had vouches for since we had our no-dolphin Dolphin Cruise in March (see archived posts), so we were anxious.

The weather cleared right up and we saw HEAPS of dolphins! Two types actually, the one kind that lives in the bay and another that lives in the open water and is more of a brown colour. They were swimming with the boat and they were very cool.
Kate (who is a photographer) took two AMAZING shots of them coming out of the water, I'm still trying to get my hands on those ;)

Then with some luck we finally saw 2 or 3 humpback whales! Unfortunately none breached (well none that we could see... "Captain Ron" claimed he saw a fantastic breach about 700m away - with a telescope perhaps?!) Anyways it was a fabulous day and nobody got too seasick (rough waters in the open ocean!).
Then we took William for a fantastic dinner at... the original Stone Grill! Sure enough, he's on board with our new love - we knew he would be :)

Check out the next post for our Sunday adventures in Canberra!
